Gatorade TVC - Casting Project
One example of the kind of logistically demanding
work that we are proud to call ours, is the set of three
GatoradeTVC's that fall under the tag-line "Unsung
Hero's " and "What drives You".
These three ads were for worldwide release and shot over
a five day period mostly in Sydney, Australia at Homebush
Stadium.
The project itself involved casting approx. 200 sporting
heroes from multiple sporting backgrounds in diciplines
that included:- basketball, disabled athletes, motorcross,
gridiron players, football players, soccer teams, and track
and field althletes.
After completion of the sourcing stage LDC was then required
to manage the coordination of each of the teams whilst on
location which also included any additional extras required
by the Director - Phil Joanou.
The teams were cast through M & G Sydney, with the
final head count at approx 500 actively participating individuals,
all managed and coordinated by LDC with the aid of only
3 assistants.
Now, after seeing the end result we can say without a doubt
it was the most challenging job we have EVER done and at
the same time a most valued and rewarding one as well.
- "The Gatorade campaign, shot in Sydney for launch
at the US Super Bowl Grand Final, was mammoth. With the
shoot crew working their maximum 14 hours each day we required
bump-in and bump-out crew to keep to our schedule. It was
a production nightmare. Through all of this I knew that
Lilly and her team would keep on top of the snowballing
effect when there were cast call changes.
From the beginning, casting 200 professional sports
people and coordinating 300 different extras each day was
a daunting task. Lilly, always cheerful, performed the task
most professionally ~ as the job grew I was so pleased to
know that she was there handling her part seamlessly and
sleeplessly." ......Kevin McGrath (Line
Producer)
